FAQ
Are you licensed?
Yes! I am a licensed nursery grower in New York. My field has been inspected by the department of agricultural markets. (I'm pretty proud of this!)
Do you sanitize?
Yes! When harvesting, I sanitize my snips with a 10% bleach solution in between each plant. This adds an immense amount of time to the task but I want to do everything I can to keep my plants as clean as possible. When taking cuttings, I use a medicine dropper to apply my rooting hormone in order to eliminate the risk of cross-contamination and my cuttings do not share water. I release beneficial insects. I cull any plant that looks remotely suspicious. If it's not thriving in my field, I'm not sending it to yours.
What are my shipping options?
For the fall shipped sale, all packages will be filled with pine shavings for insulation. We’ll be utilizing USPS Priority shipping, which advertises a 2-3 day delivery window. The cost will be $17. At checkout you will have the option to choose “USPS Priority shipping” or “USPS Priority shipping WITH HEAT PACK.” As you might suspect, if you select the latter I will include a 72 hour heat pack in your package - the price will be $2.50 more.
Do you guarantee a virus-free plant?
No. Studies suggest that over 80% of the dahlia stock in the US is infected with some kind of virus. I do everything in my power to reduce that risk (see information about my sanitizing protocol above) but I cannot guarantee that a virus will not present itself. If you are not comfortable with this risk, please do not buy from me. I do, however, guarantee the plant to be true to name.
Can I get a refund for storage failure?
No. I have no control over the conditions you choose to store your tubers in and am therefore not responsible for any loss due to storage failure. Receiving your tubers in the fall means you’ll be responsible for storing them over the winter. Please inspect your package immediately upon its arrival and reach out to me within 24 hours if you have any quality concerns.
